This grade comprises of scrap metal which is of low residue and high in thickness and density. This is a high yielding grade and the same is evident from the fact that a normal 20 feet container yields a cargo mass of more than 24 tons. This material is normally cut in size of 1500 mm x 1000 mm and has thickness of over 3mm. The HMS 1 & 2 content in this grade meets ISRI Grades 200 to 206.
This is the most traded grade of scrap metal globally. Since this yields around 20 tons in a 20 feet container, obviously the density of this grade is a bit lighter than HMS 1&2 (90:10). Conforming to ISRI 200 to 206, this grade of scrap comes mostly from countries which are not industrialized as this will comprise of household scrap, demolition scrap and re-furbishing scrap.
This grade of scrap mostly arises from countries in Africa, where industrialization has not yet boomed. This contains mostly household scrap whereby the density of this grade is much, much lower than HMS (90:10) or HMS (80:20). A cargo mass in a 20 feet container would not yield more than 19 to 20 tons unless some cast iron is added to the contents. However, given the competitive business environment, some buyers still prefer to mix this in order to average out their cost. Though cheap in price, yet this grade conforms to ISRI grade 200 to 206.
